Min Zhou, Ph.D.
Min has diverse experience in technology development, business development and venture capital.

Min spent 17 years in the US before founding China Materialia LLC in 2010. Prior to China Materialia, Min was with Silicon Valley Bank Capital, where she was responsible for identifying and evaluating venture capital and private equity fund investments, with a focus on the China market. Prior to SVB Capital, Min was a principal at Unilever Technology Ventures (UTV) where she led investments in companies in the fields of cleantech, semiconductor, medical device, drug development and health and wellness.

Prior to UTV, Min worked as a senior scientist in the Materials Science division and a business development associate at the Technology Commercialization division at Rockwell Scientific, a high-tech enterprise.

Min earned a doctorate in materials science and engineering (with distinction) from University of Southern California, a MBA (with distinction) from Anderson Business School of the University of California at Los Angeles, and a bachelor’s degree in materials science from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

Min is on the board of Prismlab, Global Power Technology Co. Ltd, Xingtera, Camray, Thingple.

Opal Wang
Ms Opal Qang has rich experience in financial internal control, project review, financial due diligence and post-investment financial management. Before joining China Materialia, Opal was the finance internal control manager, accounting and tax manager at DBS bank. Before that, Opal had more than 9 years of experience in auditing at domestic large firms, and 14 years of corporate financial management experience at companies.

Opal graduated from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and holds qualification certificate for certified public accountants.

Patrick Berbon, Ph.D.
Patrick has an extensive background in metallurgy, aerospace, power and cleantech industries.

Before co-founding China Materialia, Patrick was a Senior Consultant at Performance Improvement, a risk analysis and management company specialized in power industries. Patrick is an experienced entrepreneur in the advanced materials space. His prior start-up focuses on advanced nanograin aluminum alloys and its applications, the company was successfully listed on the Toronto Venture Exchange.

Before his entrepreneurial ventures, Patrick was a Senior Scientist in Materials Science Division at Rockwell Scientific Inc. Patrick specializes in advanced materials and clean technologies, including renewable electricity generation, biofuels for transportation, green building, clean water, clean air, carbon dioxide emissions reduction, recyclable materials, sustainable foresting and agriculture, and energy efficiency.

Patrick obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, his M.S. from Tsinghua University (China) and M.S./B.S. from Ecole Centrale de Lyon (France), all in Materials Sciences.

Patrick is a member of the Board of Directors of Camray, Octadem and Zipline Medical.

Jason Liu
Jason focuses on the investments in advanced manufacturing, 3D printing, Robot industries.

Prior to China Materialia, Jason served as the Secretary-General of Shanghai Additive Manufacturing Association (SAMA). Responsible for companies and the government’s communication, organized activity and management. He has a deep understanding of the 3D printing industry. Prior to this, Jason worked in the R&D department of a space institute, as project director, responsible for metal 3D printer project and low temperature valve project.

Jason earned Bachelor and Master degree from DongHua University, major in Mechanical Engineering. He won the title of outstanding graduates in Shanghai twice. Jason likes swimming and running in spare time.

Michelle Hua
Michelle has extensive experience in private equity investment and strategy consulting.

Prior to joining China Materialia, Ms. Hua served as Director with Co-bridge Capital, where she led investments in companies in the fields of clean-tech, advanced material and IT service. Before that, Ms. Hua was a strategy consultant with Monitor Group and PRTM, where she advised clients on M&A, market entry, and operations strategy.

Earlier in her career, Ms. Hua worked in Dell Computer and Nortel where she was involved in product development, strategic planning and operations management.

Michelle earned a MBA from University of Michigan Business School, a Master degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Maryland, dual Bachelor degree in Material Science and Automation from Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.

Maggie Yan
Maggie Yan focuses on the investments in new materials, new energy and environmental protection.

Maggie Yan has a wealth of company management and investment experience. Prior to joining China Materialia, Maggie worked in equity investment in an industrial fund set up by Dongfang Securities and a listed company, where her experience included technology, management, investment, as well as M & A and reorganization of listed companies. She served on board of directors for a number of companies.  

Earlier in her career, Maggie was an executive and co-founder of a Sino-American joint venture for more than ten years. The company is a new-materials company and it is a “science and technology enterprise of Zhejiang province”.

Maggie earned a Master degree in Material Chemistry from Zhejiang University, and a MBA from Shanghai Jiaotong University.

In his role as SSEIF Foundation secretary, Mr. Zhang is responsible for operation, events, business development, marketing and public relations of the Foundation.

To support its investment in China Materialia Venture Capital Fund II and other future direct investments, China Materialia is recruiting an investment associate on behalf of the Company.

Main job duties include:
– Support Company’s senior investment manager in China
– Industry research and technology scouting for the Company
– Identify potential technologies and translate to consumer products opportunities
– Analyze investment opportunities relevant to the Company
– Monthly report on deal-flow for the Company’s headquarter

Qualifications of the position include:
– Top university graduate with at least three years of relevant work experience – Experience in consumer goods industry is a plus
– Fluent in both Chinese and English
– Genuine curiosity and fast-learning
– Outgoing personality and good people skills
